Cam has studied composition under Luther College composer-in-residence Brooke Joyce and adjunct instructor in composition Amy Nam, and has taken courses relating to orchestration, electronic music, film music, and more. He also has engaged in studio-wide projects such as the creation of an original score for the 1928 silent film The Fall of the House of Usher in 2022, the composition of Lenten hymn preludes for organ in 2023, and an exploration of the intersection between climate change advocacy and electronic music with the artist DJ Spooky in 2022. He also wrote the original score for the short film John Hick 3 (parts 1 and 2) by Michael Burns.
